My favorite books

I know the summer is over, but some of the books i read this summer, you should really pick up and read if you can. These books are all really good reads, but best of all, they keep you wanting to read them all day. I am not a big reader, (or fast one), but I finished these three books quicker than i could ever imagine myself doing.

#1: The Giver, by Lois Lowry

This was the first book I read this summer, and I really liked it a LOT. This book kept my attention the whole way through, which is impressive because when it comes to books I am easily distracted. This book is about a boy named Jonas who lives in a strange world where there is no color and when you are twelve you are assigned a job for the rest of your life. Jonas is assigned the job of "The receiver of memory." The old receiver of memory transfers good and bad memories into Jonas's body. I will not spoil anymore. Also if you are interested, there is a movie coming out soon.

#2: The Fault In Our Stars, by John Green

This book literally made my cry. Literally. I am sure you have heard of it, or seen the movie. It is a really sad-yet funny and really enjoyable summer read. It is about a girl named Hazel Grace who has cancer. One day she meets a boy named Augustus Waters. They fall in love and live lots of fun and happy moments together. I won't tell you anything else. I promise.

#3: Hyperbole And a Half, by Allie Brosh

After I read this book I immediately fell in love with Allie Brosh! She is hilarious!!! Her book is super funny and really cool to read. It is half graphic novel, half regular novel. It is a collection of just really funny events from her life. From geese, to hot sauce, to toy-talking parrots, this book will make you cry because of how humorous it is.

Animal Tag

When I see an open field, the first thing I want to do is play a game of animal tag. This  game is perfect for birthday parties and I like playing them with about 10 people. I first learned it at camp when I was 5, but I'm still playing it. Yeah. It is that fun.

First you pick one person to be the one in the middle of the field. Next everyone picks their own animal, but DOES'NT TELL ANYONE!!!!!!!! Then the person in the center calls something like, does your animal have fur OR is your animal a reptile. If your animal is or has one of those things, you would run across the field. If you run but get tagged by the person in the middle, you become a tree, whose job is to stand still and try to tag the ''animals'' and help the person in the middle. If your animal doesn't have any of the things the person says, you don't run across. Sounds cool, right? Go try it.

My Top 2 Favorite Movies

I love to watch a good movie. That is why I'm going to give you my top 2 favorite kids' movies. So if you're always looking for good movies to watch, maybe you can check out some movies that I enjoyed, and maybe you will like them, too.

1. IRON MAN

I first saw this movie on a plane, and immediately fell in love. First of all, this movie is filled with action, and second, my favorite actor, Robert Downey jr., stars as Tony Stark, the main character. In this movie Tony Stark, a weapon company owner, gets kidnapped during the war. A lot of awesome things happen after that, but you can figure that out when you watch the movie.

If you like Iron Man, you also might enjoy, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, and The Avengers

2. Monsters Inc.

This movie has been around for pretty long, and chances are you have seen it at least once. If I have to be honest, I would say I've seen this movie about 9000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times, at the least. In this movie 2 best friends, Mike and Sully, work at a company called Monsters Incorporated.Their job is to go through kid's closets and collect their scream for energy. I know it sounds confusing, but if you watch it, you will understand it. In this amazing movie, they uncover bad guys, an abominable snowman, and a door with pink flowers on it. This is my favorite animated movie of all time, and that's saying something.

If you like this you might like, Monsters University, and other Pixar movies

Boogie Board

By seeing this picture, you might be saying something like,"This doesn't look anything like what I used at the beach today", but right now I'm talking about something totally different. The boogie board I'm talking about, is an awesome writing tablet. To use the tablet, you pick up the pen and write on it. The pen has no ink, but whatever you draw will come out in grey. When you're done with you're drawing, you press the erase button on the top. If you love drawing and writing, but hate wasting paper, these are perfect for you.

* they are perfect for writing things like schedules

*they do not use batteries, and aren't plugged in

*you don't have to use the pen. Other things like fingertips will also write

Emoji Pop

If you currently have an iphone, and enjoy new apps, I have a great app that you might love. This app is called emoji pop. I found out about this app, after my cousin showed me. The rules are extremely simple. This is how you play:

The game will give you 2 or more emoji symbols. You first figure out what each emoji is. Then you put them together to see if it makes sense. It gives you all the letters for the correct answer.

For example. This question shows a picture of a shell and a fish. When you put them together, it makes shellfish. You would drag the letters from the bottom, so that you spell shellfish. This is how each question is, except they get much more challenging. You can get hints and other cool things when you are stuck. If you like this app, or how it sounds, type "emoji pop" into the app store.

Homemade Butter

At the camp I go to, we cook and make a LOT of food. One of the most simple recipes, was homemade butter. I really recommend this recipe because it is easy to make, but it still tastes fresh and amazing.  So, if you're looking for a topping for bread, or something else, give this recipe a try.

Ingredients and Supplies

1 mason jar (or any container with a tight lid)

2 cups of heavy cream

2 good arms to shake!!!!

Instructions

Pour 2 cups of heavy cream into your jar. Secure the lid very tightly so the cream does not go everywhere. Start shaking the jar hard, and do NOT stop shaking.   In about 5 minutes the butter might feel ready, but still keep shaking. In maybe 5 more minutes it should be ready. Put your butter in a bowl. You should squeeze the excess buttermilk out with a rubber spatula before eating. The next step is DIG IN!!!!!!!!!!

-whole recipe takes about 10 minutes
